LATAM’s Threat Landscape_
The LATAM Annual Report will also explore the latest challenges and opportunities to improve the security of organisations in the region.
In 2024, Latin America and the Caribbean was the world’s fastest-growing region for disclosed cyber incidents, with a 25% average annual growth rate in the last decade.
41% of cyberattacks in Brazil have been successful in the last two years, while 60% of respondents say they focus almost entirely on fighting successful attacks rather than working to prevent them in the first place.
The trend has been building for at least a year now, with a 53% year-over- year rise in weekly cyberattacks against organisations in the region, 40% more than other regions.
Industrial and energy sectors, including the oil industry, are critical to Latin America’s economy and are thus prime targets for cyberattacks. These attacks can cause significant disruptions, with 58% affecting IT infrastructure and 77% involving data theft.
